Well, the problem is resolved. Somehow, a pair of 2 meter interconnects that had been loaned to me were the cause of it (I had none of sufficient length at the moment). When I swapped them out, after moving the unit closer to the amplifiers, and used my existing interconnects, no volume issue at all. Odd that any interconnect could possibly have made THAT degree of difference with volume.
