I run my TP through a J Rowlad amp as well. Make sure you use XLR out from TP as it sounds much better than RCA IMO, YMMV :-) Alac sounds great . No difference at all from flac. But do go into server settings in the slim software and uncheck the box that allows slim to convert alac to mp3. That might degrade the SQ.
