By the way - and I'm NOT advocating this for obvious safety reasons - if
you pull the plug fuses (UK 3-pin) and solder a nice solid piece of
copper across the fuse holder guess what happens to sound quality?
(need to remember that there are fuses inside the equipment too - the
UK plug fuse is there to protect the cable not the equipment attached
to the cable).

As an aside, eliminating the internal fuses as well is even better and
even more dangerous! With no wire fuses, I'm now relying on the main
RCD's to prevent a fire breaking out...hmmm, hang on I think I can
smell something...
