Some solid state power amps take a long time for their output stage bias currents to stabilize, which is why some manufacturers recommend leaving them on. If the bias current is too low when the amp is cold, it can lead to increased distortion until it warms up. I would think 15 or twenty minutes should be plenty of time though.
As for wasted energy, my house has electric heat! So it makes no difference! Baseboard or Classe!
