Very true. Life wouldn't be the same without my Harmony remotes. In fact, I got into PC audio only after discovering X-10 RF remotes around 1999. The convenience of scrolling through one's entire music collection out on the deck seemed like alchemy back then. My directory structure Genre\Sub-genre\Artist\Year_Album\Track number_Title allowed me to shuffle to my mood and then progress through that artist's career even without a visual cue. I anyway knew all my music. The convenience made me completely give up on any other medium. Wrong forum to talk about such compromise on quality! But as opposed to selecting a whole bunch of CD's and feeding them into the CD changer in the trunk of my car, I could now access all my music using the world's first CD-MP3 player. Via Eden platform came out shortly thereafter and I put low powered fanless little boxes all over the house for everyone to use for individual listening and basic computing. They are silent for my house. The background sounds of life are much louder than the little Seagate drives I put into each. The music along with movies, photos and documents resided in the basement in a huge tower case with lots of fans. VNC made it possible to control anything from anywhere. But now convenience doesn't require a compromise on quality. Its time to stop writing these long posts, lurk on this forum, check out the rigs of all knowledgeable people here and steal ideas for my upgrade. Thank you everyone. -- guptaas ------------------------------------------------------------------------ guptaas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21096 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54951 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
