Interesting - looks quite complicated to try - I'd need a few spare
hours by the look of it.

As you say, for ripping via EAC etc with accuraterip this is largely a
non-issue.

Some high-end CD players use CD-ROM (or DVD-Rom) drives and it would be
interesting to see how they fared. Some manufacturers "tweak" the stock
drives via custom firmware, servos etc.

However, they very rarely make multiple passes of the disc at
high-speed!

I always remember those few early cd players with error
readouts/counters on them. They soon disappeared from the market. It's
hard to know what a normal cd player is doing with our music...

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann
JISCO/UPCI - TACT 2.2X (Linear PSU) + Good Vibrations S/W - MF
Triplethreat(Audiocom full mods)- Linn 5103 - Aktiv 5.1 system (6x
LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend Supertweeters,
Kimber & Chord cables
Outdoors: Boombox+Creative Sub (If I remember to turn it on...)
