most likely that your DAC can not oversample (properly) the sample rate SB is passing. Happened to me with different DAC. Would oversample 44.1, but not 48 (in other words, it would work fine with SB3, but not with DVD player playing DVDs and will oversample fine with DVD player playing CDs). Was there some kind of clock upgrade done on the DAC?
