This sounds like the the problem I had with my Transporter. Although I didn't test the balanced outputs, the unbalanced ones were horribly distorted. In my case it was intermittant and nothing I did (various resets, different firmware and SC versions) cured the problem. It was a case of back for an exchange which eventually happened.
