A while back I did some research on these--my poor recollection is that I wasn't impressed with the DAC part of the equation. I do use Dynaudio BM5a's (internal amps) throughout the house (from ebay. I suggest you google some of the models that interest you and look for pro sound magazine reviews. The best are very informative. BTW you can spend a fortune on the higher end ones as they often have the ability to adjust for room placement.
