I have a simple way to turn off the screen completely, it stops all the signals going to the display, unfortunately the Touch crashes after about 20 seconds when playing a song in this mode. Looking at the log files it looks like its related to the watch dog timer. The strange thing is that after disabling the screen, it doesn't crash until I start playing a song. So far I haven't figured out how to prevent the crashing from happening. Its going to take some down and dirty debugging to figure this one out.
