Having listened to some of better USB devices, I must confess: yes, Windows USB is garbage. You need proprietary drivers like usb-audio.de or M2Tech, etc. "Bit perfect" - either it is bit perfect, or not. There is nothing in between. If it is not, probably there is something to configure. Amarra software as far as I know changes something in the settings to match the sampling rate output on Mac. I believe there is a way to make Mac bit perfect.
