If you set the gain staging correctly, the only degradation to using a modest amount of digital attenuation on redbook sources is a reduction in S/N ratio. And since the intrinsic noise floor of the Transporter is *way* below the noise floor of any music recording, that's entirely academic. (On 24 bit sources, you also lose a bit of resolution in the LSB.
