Hello bjast, I have a Rotel RC 1070 preamp that I have my Transporter
connected to. They are, as a pair, dead quiet at both moderate and high
volume.
I would try as other posters have suggested.

Touch with iPeng for a controller. For Critical Listening =>Transporter
=> Rotel RC1070 preamp => Rotel RB1080 2 channel amp => Bowers & Wilkins
805 Speakers.
