The Transporter has a completely different sort of software running that is very much hardware based basics. The Touch has some kind of linux running. The Transporter itself sounds damn fine and has no problems with the magic jitter others fight with all kind of DAC/Touch combinations. Even more since the way the DAC in the Transporter works alone is vaporizing jitter in a way other manufacturers invented nice wordings for and claim immunity to jitter impact :) The analog output is well done, otherwise the impressive low measured noise wouldn´t be possible. If you like Tube sound the ModWright will be nice for sure but notice that even the complete ModWright mod still has the switcher PSU for the displays in. Don´t let you sell any linear part for this one from someone who claims better sound until he shows you measurements of the claimed improvements. What i did is a switch of the already very good NE5534 Op amps in the exit against some new National parts. Someone in a DIY thread mentioned they measured -1dB better noisefloor but to me they changed the sound quiete a bit. Maybe because they are really good in driving capacitive loads and react different on my cabling. Also the coupling caps may be bettered today with some Silmic II or some exotics. I exchanged them against Panasonic FM after removing the original Panasonic FC. I had some Black Gate NX in and they sounded unreal with added sibilance against a 2nd umodded Transporter i had around later a while. Others remove these caps altogether. You may try this if the rest of your system hasn´t a problem with some offset. I stream flac over Wireless. Others claim ethernet and streaming the files wav improves sound but when i tetsed this i concluded nothing. Must be some placebo effect here.
