... which reminds me ... I used to have a Technics SU-C800U preamp and a Technics SE-A800S power amp, connected to my relatively small Audiovector speakers. It didn't sound very good, even though the power amp ought to have 2x80W in it. My current amp (NAD C315BEE, 2x40W, and everything else is identical) sounds much better. Which leads me to the conclusion that the Technics must have been really mal-designed. Some people insist that everything from Technics sounds great... I don't know if they just haven't heard this particular model, or if they're full of it... ;)
