Large dipoles I may pass on exact advice on thoose .

But as they have a back wave a healty distance to walls behind them and
considerable toe in against the listening positioning, if they are of
the the never kind with thin separate treble ribbons they may not beam
that much, but owners of planars usually aim them at the listener .

I would not be surprised if end up with something like 1/3 of you room
behind the speakers if they are large planar dipoles , hybrid planar
like martin logans can be closer to back wall due to that the membrane
is not full frequency .

Dipoles bass performance is peculiar the rule from box speakers that
you enhance bass close to boundaries may not apply innthe same way due
to what happens with the back wave so having them in the room and not
close to walls may not be any disadvantage att all

The maggies manual what does it say, magneplanar should have specific
placement instructions .
You could use the advice from a never large model the principle is the
same. If you manual is gone.

If they are very large you would not have any problems with ceiling or
floor reflections as the speaker would practically not radiate in that
direction at all. And they don't radiate much if you are on thier
sides, they radiation may look similar to a figure eigth seen from
above.

Users of large electrostats could also have usefull experience the
placement principle will be similar
