Except of course for numbers like 32bit and 384kHz, which are clearly better than 16bit and 44.1kHz. However when it comes to vinyl LPs versus CDs or tubes versus solid state than the numbers once again don't matter. So I guess it not that arithmetic doesn't matter but that arithmetic only -*selectively-* matters.
