I've had my hands all over the components - other than the little toroidal transformers and the aluminum case, nothing was especially hot. I think you & Fizbin might be right about the little 5 volt supply for the display. I'm going to order one of the replacements from his UK link, and remove the original supply. I have to say, the quality of this board is not on par with the rest of the Transporter; it looks like it came from a cheap toy.
