Good Morning All,
1. Firstly my apologies for any
cross postings to the various Internal Audit Lists both within and out of the
Higher Ed Sector.
2. At Edith Cowan University, we have
combined the Quality and Audit Committees to form a Quality and Audit Committee
(QAC) that deals with strategic Quality, Internal Audit and Risk Management
issues. This committee is the governance committee for our Council (Board
of Governors, Board, Senate) . Our Committee Chairs would like QAC to
follow best practices in regard to the discharge of its duties and has requested
the Director Policy and Planning (responsible for the Quality Initiative) and I
(responsible for Risk Management and Audit Assurance) to develop a set of
performance indicators (PI's) for the committee. I would appreciate
your assistance by way of ideas or websites.
3. The WA govt legislation for PI's
requires that they have the characteristics of being relevant, appropriate,
verifiable, free-from-bias and quantifiable. Further they need to be in 2
categories, efficiency and effectiveness. The former is simply inputs as a
ratio of outputs where as the latter are outcomes against our terms of reference
and charters.
