I reported some weeks back about a strange occurrence of applications
randomly crashing when using AUFS. After debugging it has been
determined that this issue is directly related to the CPU (MIPS) cache
policy--it does not happen any longer when the cache is forced
write-through instead of write-back.

I spent a fair amount of time attempting to reproduce with qemu and
was unable; I wonder if it is possible to configure such write-back
behaviour in the emulator.

In any case, the solution now is to use write-through mode. I wonder
though if there could be an explicit write-back missing after a copy
or some such which might be seen only on certain hardware?
