I have been testing the unreleased (unofficial) aufs2.1 stack for 2.6.36 that Jordi Pujol announced on this list[1]; thank you Jordi for pulling those changes together. I have tested this combination pretty hard and it has held together thus far. I am planning on injecting it into an Ubuntu live CD shortly, and will report back on that too.
In order to get this set to work on v2.6.37-rc1 I had to apply a couple of additional fixes; patches for these follow this email.
