Could you try building aufs with CONFIG_AUFS_DEBUG enabled, and load aufs module with the module parameter "debug=1" or after loading set it manually by "echo 1 > sys/module/aufs/parameters/debug". Additionally "echo 8 > /proc/sys/kernel/printk" will be necessary too. And run your man command, aufs will produce many debug msgs to your kernel log file. Let's investigate the log. J. R. Okajima
