I've tested with only LANG=C and the test still breaks on i386 (hence this
ticket).
In fact, one needs to set also LC_ALL=C for the test to work. So this bug
is indeed a duplicate of #35.
For what I've seen, the LANG=C work-around is enough on amd64 but not
enough on i386 (go figure ...).
