 Thanks for the patch.

 Yes, using _N (and _E and _F) as macro names was a major goofup, since
 names starting with an underscore are reserved for the system libraries. I
 just committed a change that does away with all three of those macros, see
 commit 2529848e9

 (You need to get it from http://github.com/lutter/augeas - the
 fedorahosted repo is giving me trouble when I push right now)
