Regexp from libfa does support uchar in their transitions, so unless we
change this we are limited to ASCII, and can't define UTF-8 lens. 

For the binary part, AFAIK chars 0x001 to 0x004 are reserved for
internal purpose, and can't be used in regexp. This may limit the
applicability to binary streams. 

I'm curious: what is the target application you wanted to use augeas
for?
