For Android development, the "Compatibility" package got renamed to
"Support" package when it went from R3 to R4:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/compatibility-library.html
The AUR has both an 'android-compatibility-package' :
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=52967
and an 'android-support-package' :
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=53266
The 'android-compatibility-package' is R03, which is the last version
with that name. And is, in fact, flagged as out of date. The
'android-support-package' is, in fact, r4, as it should be. And
both are maintained by the same person. Should the compatibility
package deleted?
I do not know if there are technical reasons for keeping both
packages, but I wuld guess so.
The maintainer should know it.
