Can I further ask why a non-destructive git revert to the last non- malicious commit is not preferred over the current method?Because there was no non-malicious commit to revert to. The tree had been malicious from the root.
In case a non-malicious commit does exist, we do `reset --hard` to the last known non-malicious commit instead.
