stenzek [1] filed a deletion request for duckstation-git [2]: I was referred to this form by "ptr1337". I am the developer of the DuckStation application, and I specifically do not permit downstream packaging due to it being neverending headache of users complaining about functionality broken and bugs introduced by packagers. The license itself does not permit redistribution, but to avoid any ambiguity I specifically exclude packages (see the readme).
Recently, I've had an influx of users for this package complaining to me instead of the packager. Every time, it turns into abuse towards me, as you can also see in the comments for the package. I don't have the energy or time to deal with this - developing this application is my hobby, not my job. I'd appreciate it if the package was removed to help with my sanity, otherwise I am considering just dropping Linux support completely as I do not have the mental bandwidth to deal with this anymore. The "duckstation" package that is pinned to the last GPL commit is also problematic - it is modified to remove my details from the application, which is potentially a copyright issue. Additionally, as per GPL section 5 and 7, modified versions should be conveyed as such. Considering this version is almost a year old, it has also created confusion for users and I have received support requests for something that is over 2,000 commits behind. However, renaming it to comply with the license requirements would be an acceptable solution here. I'm well aware that this request is probably just going to go straight to devnull, but considering the Linux community is turning the hate dial up to maximum again, I figured it'd be worth trying to defuse the situation before I end up taking any drastic action or walking away. I will be removing this account following the submission as I do not want to be associated with this distribution in any way. Thanks.
