To be clear from the start: using a package while never asking a question in
the AUR comments or on GitHub Issues, never offering any fix, and not even
reading the notes on GitHub — then going straight to filing an
orphan/out-of-date request — shows neither competence nor basic decency. The
maintainer is not your support desk, and a free package is not a product you
paid for. You are in no position to decide on everyone's behalf that a package
should be orphaned.

About "no update for 3 weeks": nothing was abandoned here. Since v0.11.0,
upstream replaced the bundled standalone Node runtime with Electron-as-Node;
the source comment says it plainly:

"The Desktop no longer ships a standalone Node. The Electron binary that runs
Node work … always with ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE=1."

On Linux, the Electron binary dynamically links the global glib and leaks its
symbols into the process space, which collides with the libvips bundled by
sharp and makes sharp segfault (upstream bug: electron/electron#46323, still
unfixed). That is the whole reason the update was held back, and it is
documented in the GitHub Issues.

As you wished, the package has now been updated — at the cost of stability.

If you want a stable install, use the previous version, 0.10.0.

Next time, read the README and the Issues first, and ask in the comments or an
issue before filing. If you cannot do those three things, do not make decisions
for other people. And if you have any self-respect left, go to /requests and
close PRQ#88449 yourself.

Package maintainers: the package is actively maintained and was updated today
(0.12.1-7, 2026-10-27 07:28 UTC), so please reject this request.

Thanks.
