Unless the PKGBUILD needs adaptations or fixes to make a proper build, a VCS package like the '-git' suffixed ones do not get out-of-date, even if the indicated AUR version is old. A VCS package will update the version in the package metadata before doing the build. It will use the latest commit from the source branch.
