MarsSeed [1] filed a request to merge public-inbox [2] into public-
inbox-git [3]:

AUR/public-inbox is broken and abandoned since 2020.
Whereas public-inbox-git has a maintainer, and is in a functioning
state.

Also, though upstream does publish releases, those have become very
infrequent and unreliable (only 3 release tags since 2020).

Whereas the git master is constantly receiving enhancements and fixes.

This application has an extensive, exhaustive test harness, with 2300+
test cases. (Despite this, the build and the test execution is very
fast even on an old mid-performance consumer laptop.)

These tests ensure that even the git master version should be very
robust and reliable - and if it breaks after a specific commit, the
PKGBUILD will fail, so users won't get a broken package to install.
