Most ros-melodic packages on AUR became instantly broken in Oct 2023 due to relying in a hidden (undeclared) way on the obsolete 'ros- build-tools-py3' package that got deleted at that point. Also, all of the the base ros-melodic packages have been devoid of maintenance since 2021, and already at that point they were ill-suited for and likely incompatible with the rolling Arch distribution, which was already 3 years ahead of the ancient Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
