The rest seem to be running the hospitality industry in Scotland, every bar has an Aussie behind it, especially in rural areas..........

Flying costs over here don't bear thinking about, providing you don't convert from GBP to AUD you are OK {:-)

Hello, I am one of those yanks. I subscribe to your list because my daughter is getting married and moving to Brisbane so I will be spending a few months each winter (your summer) there and want to get a feel for the soaring community down there.

Here are the prices for the Colorado Soaring Assoc.
one of 4 local clubs.
http://www.soarcsa.org/rates.htm

Initiation Fee $250 Monthly Dues $45 Glider Rental $ 0 Winch Tows $8 Aerotows $8 hookup + $8.50/1000 Wave tow /aero-retrieve $120/tach-hour Parachutes $0 Barographs $0 Tiedowns (outside) $0 trailer $20/mo

Clubhouse $0

If you are in Los Angeles I would recommend Cal City.
It is a little farther distance than Crystal but
the same driving time as it is all freeway driving.
Marty and Cindy run the commercial op there and the
So Cal soaring is the club there.

Are all the Australia young people working at the
Ski slopes here in Colorado this year or are there
a few still down there?? ;-)
They seem to be a polite and enthusiastic group and
a welcome addition to a weekend of skiing.

Rob

An ever dwindling number of people you mean. Most volunteer organisations I've heard about are having trouble this way nowadays.

Pffft. Ever-dwindling my arse. It's always been like that, Mike. Anyone who believes otherwise is fooling themselves.
