What a terrifically safe sport we have. We don't appear to have any accidents ... and even incidents don't seem to exist.

I've told my wife how safe I must be now that I've gone Gliding.

Thanks goodness I didn't go Hang Gliding because they have accidents. I've seen them reported in Soaring Australia.

I nearly considered an Untralight once, but they also have accidents. I've seen them reported in their Magazine and their Operations Manager often features Safety and Breaches of Operational Regulations in his column in the Magazine every month.

But Gliding doesn't appear to have any breaches of Regulations or Incidents or Accidents.

I've heard some people & seen some Websites mention rumours about accidents, but they can't be true as I've searched the Magazine, and as long as I keep away from that Airfield where things happened recently, I've no fear of an accident.

SERIOUSLY ... the discussion in April/May in this Forum covered most of this ....... but if other equivalent organizations can face the facts, look their demons in the eye, and report their accidents for the rest of the membership to learn from, why isn't it done in Gliding? Are we somehow different to the HGFA and the AUF/whatever they are called now?
