I've seen a fully laden LS8's *.igc trace do 12km in ground effect - done in the uk! Would love to go to Lake Ayre and see how far the glider will go at ZOT foot...

As mark said before, finishing straight in is the most efficient means of completing a competition/record flight. At the Junior Worlds, there were 512 competitors that started, and 442 of them crossed the finish line - everyone of those finishers were straight in, not a single 'beat up' at the Junior Worlds! I think thats saying something...

Good Fun,

In a perfect world you could go to 1m 5-10km out at 300kmh and still have
120kmh over the fence. 10km in an ASH25 5km in a fully ballasted ASW20b at
Horsham, Ventus c will also do it (so they tell me)ahem.
