Bugger me,

I thought when the co-pilot was calling out V1 and V2 he was ordering 2 energy
drinks for the sector on climb-out.

Goes to show you learn something every day.

All 'V1' means to me anymore is the speed at which I'll continue with the
take-off, and 'V2' is now the speed at which I'll safely climb away at to my
one engine acceleration altitude before doing any flap retraction procedures..

Geez I need to go gliding again!

And there you have it !!!! the young people of today have no sense of
adventure, back in my day there would be a gaggle of 20 or more V1's all in the
same thermal waiting for the gate to open, ( and you had to cross at just over
3,000 feet, regardless of what height the thermals were going to ) and when you
got to the turnpoint the V1 would blow up. And you tell that to the juniors of
today and they wont believe ya....
