Some things never change.
Came across this Jack Iggulden quote, from 1960 AG, when he retired as GFA
secretary regarding the GFA.
Sums it up So well.
"It has been said by someone – very accurately, I think –
that we tend to eventually resemble whatever it is we oppose.
If this is true, and I repeat that in my experience it does
seem to commonly happen, then, by having as our main object the opposing of
government control; we would eventually end up by replacing the threat of
government control by the control
of our own gradually evolved and entrenched bureaucracy and, in the mildest and
most limited way, we might
fancy that we can see this process already begun. If it has already begun then
it can only get worse
If we don’t like this trend, the time to do something about
it is now. These matters are largely
dependent on attitudes and viewpoints in ourselves."
Prescient eh?
