Subject: [Aus-soaring] National Club & Sports Class Comp Nov 09

  Hi All,

Lake Keepit Soaring Club will be hosting the GFA National Club & Sports Class
Championships this year from Monday 9th November thru Friday 20th November 2009.

For those of you who've not flown at Keepit it is one of the most interesting
gliding sites in Australia with a wide variety of soaring terrain - flatlands
from the South to the West, Nandawar ranges to the NW (Mt Kaputar) which really
cook up on a good day, the Pilliga scrub to the west (again a stunning source
of lift when it gets working), the Barraba/Bingara valley to the North - higher
country, and some challenging "tiger" country to the NE to Armidale - rarely
used, but Bruce keeps threatening to send us there on a high day.

The local area around Keepit features the lake and a couple of ranges of
hills which ensure you can see these clear local landmarks from afar - you can
never get disoriented or lose your way. Over by Manilla is a line of hills you
can ridge soar, Mt Bora - Mecca for hang gliding pilots.

Delightful country to soar over with lots of variety.

Details - entry forms, rules, turnpoints etc will be progressively added to
our website - www.keepitsoaring.com over the next few weeks as we get ourselves
organised.

However, in the meantime, you may wish to organise your holidays for these
couple of weeks. Note - there will be a strict limit on entries of 60 gliders
maximum. The last couple of NSW championships held at Keepit resulted in a full
entry book, and a few pilots had to be turned away, so you would be well
advised to get entries in early.

Local accommodation links are on the website - there will be space for
campers on site, but all the beds on-site will be occupied by Club members,
officials and tuggies - so again, I'd be recommending you make accommodation
arrangements early. If you're booking at the adjoining Lake Keepit State Park
caravan park ensure that you mention that you're attending the comp - we've
taken a reservation on all their accommodation for those two weeks.

Check our website www.keepitsoaring.com in another couple of weeks for full
details. Enquiries to co...@keepitsoaring.com.

We'll look forward to having you with us in November.
