Hi Adam,
Hans Werner Grosse's flights from Alice Springs airport (not Bond Springs) were
made between 9th Dec and 21th Jan over a number of years with the biggest
flights between 20th Dec to 11 Jan. eg.
4 Jan 1979 ASW17 1229km,
9 Dec 1980 ASW17 1271km/ 133kph,
10 Jan 1987 ASW25 1250km/ 143kph, 1379km.
4 Jan 1981 ASW17 1306km,
3 Jan 1979 ASW17 1000km/ 145kph, and
10 Jan 1988 ASH25 750km/ 161kph,
11 Jan 1988 ASH25 1000km/ 157kph,
17 Feb 1978 ASW17 1000km/ 109kph,
etc. etc.
The FAI website has a good historical account of his world records.
Certainly worth an expedition or two to the Alice!

Does anyone here know for sure, when the most reliable time for weather is
in Alice Springs? Thinking of organising a 2 week expedition/adventure
there over the next two years, to be held in ~2 years time.
