There should be a big GREEN dob near the wheel down position and a big
REDblob near up position AND pilot is taught on turning final to
recheck the
wheel position as is done always in power. The French introduced that
system 30 years ago - it stopped wheels up to such an extent they no longer
bother with the green and red.

Tom Gilbert years ago gave an excellent briefing on use of wheel on a
glider he was selling to a friend of mine in Victoria. I hate those stupid
foil things the factory fit I want colour - not sure how to handle the
colour blind pilots

Trust me it works - just ask my converts.
