The Astir hanging from the ceiling in the Smithsonian Aero Space Museum at
the Dulles Airfield, Washington is the Grob 102 Standard Astir that Robert
Harris
set a World altitude record of 49,009ft in wave of the Sierra Nevada
Mountains in Central California on February 17th 1986.

Also among the other gliders in the museum is a Sisu 1A that Alvin H.Parker
set a world record 1042 Klms on July 31 1964 from Odessa, Texas.

I guess the grandaddy of the the museum's gliders is the space shuttle on
exhibition.
