The most fun I have had recently was with a GoPro. GoPros are
guaranteed for one or two years, depending on where you live and are
considered by the manufacturer to be close to a single use, disposable
item. Therefore, when the warranty is over, that's it. If the camera
fails, then nobody can or will try to fix it.

This is for a device which costs between $300 and $500 and has sold in
the millions.

My problem was with my wife's one. She uses it very occasionally and
finally it would not turn on at all. After exhausting all the normal
things including new batteries and rebooting, the bizarre solution
which actually worked was to put it in the deep freeze overnight and
then press all sorts of buttons. It did restart and now mostly works.

So when you are considering FLARM problems in their tens or their
hundreds from a small manufacturer, consider that you could be dealing
with GoPro and think yourself lucky.
