Thank you so much for your reply, I *think* that turning off the Tablet PC Components has solved the problem for the time being. I say "think" because I had already manually fixed the errors, carefully avoiding mousing over the problem errors. I've tried commenting out some of the code I added, in an attempt to reproduce the problem again, & it seems to be ok. Fingers crossed.
