It depends on the NZ-AU path the provider uses, in my experience - Sydney - Auckland:
1. Via Southern Cross - 23ms 2. Via TGA - 25ms 3. Via Hawaiki - 35ms Auckland - Wellington adds about 10ms rtt These are core network speeds, end user connectivity of course depends on the medium chosen. Of course FTTH is becoming ubiquitous now in NZ so a few of ms would be normal. Here's a ping from a server at home (Auckland/Gig FTTH/Southern Cross) to a server in Equinix Sydney.
