Interesting point Steven... But I will argue it - because it's relevant to any operator who wants to bring in their own equipment.
We don't have a regime where you need to submit devices to a government body for type approval, or even use local AU/NZ labs to perform testing. As a supplier you just have to self-register and document that devices conform to local regulations. You can do that by assembling a compliance folder of existing test reports showing devices pass in other markets - typically European Norms. Compliance is my least favourite thing to do (I'd rather be building networks) but it rarely limits the type of equipment I want to use.
