For those following along, a quick update that Vocus, Akamai and Microsoft are all looking into this and hopefully it will be resolved in the coming days.
For anyone having issues like this in future, in this case it took someone at Vocus to take the lead on it because the CDN is on their network. I suspect that nobody else would have the right authorisation to request the upstream providers take action. Eg, is Firefox going to consult/honour /etc/hosts when they turn on DoH by default for US citizens in the comings weeks?
