ESRI's involvement in OGC standards has been questionable to date. Their involvement has been minimal compared to their market share.

And the technical merit and motivation of their proposals have been formally objected to twice by the OSGeo Foundation:

Hi Ross,

In fairness to ESRI, they have been involved in open standards for many years, working with at least OGC and ISO TC211.

They have also been investing in open source for at least ten years, e.g. they are one of the investors behind 52 North:

Interestingly, while the page seems to focus a lot on the
company’s vision for interoperability and open standard, there
is no separate tab for Open Source.
