ESRI's involvement in OGC standards has been questionable to date. Their
involvement has been minimal compared to their market share.
And the technical merit and motivation of their proposals have been
formally objected to twice by the OSGeo Foundation:

Interestingly, while the page seems to focus a lot on the
company’s vision for interoperability and open standard, there
is no separate tab for Open Source.
