Hi everyone. I've been a user of OOo for a few years now. Where I live now
(the middle of nowhere!) my ten years experience as a TEFL teacher is of no use
so I've just completed a course in proofreading and I am presently doing another
in copyediting. Can I be of any help to you? I'd love the practical
experience!

Hi Sharon. Has anyone pointed you at s review anything yet? There is always work in progress amongst the various contributors here. When chapters of the User Guides are up for review, you'll see people posting messages about which chapter is available etc. One place you could get started in to do some proof reading and copyediting is the Draw guide and the Calc guide. If you're interested in starting on these, then let us know, and we can point you to where to get the docs.

If you want a quick place to get started, the FAQ on the Wiki needs a lot of attention right now. http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/FAQ You can easily pick a small section there and review it for style, readability, and even accuracy. They are simple one-topic FAQs and most don't require a high level of in-depth knowledge of OOo to verify. I recently posted a message to the d...@documentation list with details on what could be done with the FAQs: http://documentation.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=6371
