Christian:

Many thanks!

I have used Irfranview for years, and I never cease to be surprised by yet another feature of Irfranview that I have overlooked. Incidentally this thing has a Multimedia Player and an Optical Character Recognition plug-in to be fetched that I discovered while looking for the Screenshot facility.

In short, Options | C starts the dialog that sets up the screenshot facility. You set the folder to save the screen shot, set the file type, and set the name of the screen shot file. Then press Control F11 to take the screen shot. But I was dumb: I didn't realize that I could, let alone should, minimize Irfranview before pressing Control F11 to take the screen shot. Once I realized this, Control F11 is magic.

Let me tell you this beats shift PrtScrn to copy a screen shot to the clipboard, Paint or Paint.net to copy the clipboard to the Paint image, then editing, then saving the image as your choice of file type. Ugh.

Thanks!

Would you please post a link to a vendor, or to a download site if
screencast is free?

Hi

Try downloading a free screencast tool. It will capture the image for
you,
rather than relying on old methods. Plus it may give you more control
as you
can set it to take the immediate screen, region on your desktop, etc.
I use
TNT v 2.1 (which is free to download and use) and then use GIMP or
another
imaging tool to add call out lines or sharpen it up, but there are others
out there you may prefer to use. You just need to do a search using your
search engine. I'm sure there are plenty of open source screen capture
tools
out there too. If you're still having problems, please just ping me
back and
I'll try and take the image for you :)

I'm reviewing and updating screen shots in Ch 3 of writers guide at the

toolbar -
the rest of my computer screen wants to come too. I am pressing alt +
PrntScn
but this isn't working. I tried looking in the help in draw but
nothing on
the subject.
Thanks hopefully in advance.
