Here are Jean's standard instructions for this process, for those who haven't
been through it before:
Try to find things like missing illustrations (blank places
where they should be), wrong cross-references to figure and table
numbers, missing cross refs (identified by Error!), wrong fonts or font
sizes, and any other weirdnesses that I can no longer see.
Please DON'T all start with chapter 1 because we end up with 15 reviews
of the early chapters and none of the later chapters in the book.
Look for errors like this:
* Missing x-refs (marked by "Error! xxxx") or wrong x-refs (usually to
the wrong figure number)
* Incorrect list numbering (not starting with 1, or following items in
a list not numbered sequentially)
* Missing figures
* Up to date info on the copyright page (email address, date of
publication, OOo version, and website address in footer)
* Characters, words, graphics (especially circles and callouts on
other graphics) in wrong places on the page
* Conspicuously bad page breaks; for example, the lead-in sentence to
a list on one page, with all of the list on the next page, or a table
row split over two pages, or a very large blank space at the bottom of
a page because a graphic or table has gone to the next page when it
should not have done so
* And anything else that looks wrong
This sort of checking can be done fairly quickly, because you should
be skimming, not reading in detail.
At this point you should NOT primarily be looking for minor wording
inconsistencies and other issues. Of course, if you find errors do let
Jared know. An email to the list giving the file name, the page number,
and the error is the easiest way to do this for PDFs.

Thanks for putting the ebook together.
I have skimmed through it and here are some immediate reactions. I will
try to find some time to go into the details.
As the release of OOo3.3 is imminent (rc4 is out) I guess we can discuss
these items for version the update to v3.3.
- one thing I noticed is that not all the chapters start on a right
page. I am not sure if this should be fixed or not, but it definitely
looks strange.
- In the context of the book, I found some of the contents of Chapter 1
a bit out of place. While when taken in isolation, chapter 1 is an
excellent introduction to Impress, when part of the book I think we
should just introduce the environment and how to start a presentation
rather than discussing formatting and running a slide show which are
covered in depth in the subsequent chapters. I would remove pages 22 to 27.
- Chapter 8 should probably be swapped with Chapter 2. This is because
the Chapter 2 topics are somewhat advanced user territory (slide
masters, styles and templates) and because thinking about someone using
the ebook to learn how to use Impress, it makes sense to learn early how
to format slides and notes rather than learning first how to format the
contents.
